‘Reading Notes’ is one of my initiatives to keep a tab of what I read and when I read. These are just my general musing; I am interested in recording my thoughts as I read so that I can look back and reflect on my thought patterns. It will be a raw, unedited version of my thoughts.

So here it goes. I am starting with ‘Inspector Imanishi Investigates’ by Seicho Matsumoto.

Book Review - The Samurai by Shusaku Endo

I had never previously read anything by Shusaku Endo. All I knew about him was that one of his novels, Silence, had been adapted into an award-winning film directed by Martin Scorsese. I had watched bits and pieces of the movie, and it was compelling enough to spark my curiosity about the events that took place in Japan during the 1500–1600s. Discovering that The Samurai was set in this period, I decided to give the book a try. I went in without expectations and emerged with a new perspective on faith and what it means to us.

👋 Hi, I’m Aruna - currently working as a Product Manager in Bangalore, India. This phrase from Batman Begins probably sums me up the best -

“It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.”

Outside of work, I love to read fiction novels, listen to modern jazz and watch crime procedural dramas. Also, a proud Rafa fan. 😍

About the Blog

Let me share why I chose this name. I’ve always been fascinated by banyan trees; they feel both majestic and calming at once. Whenever I sit beneath one and look up at its vast canopy, I can’t help but marvel at its grandeur. I often juxtapose this expansiveness with that of the universe, and in doing so, I’m instantly humbled by my own insignificance in comparison to these magnificent creations.
